Valerie Winterson works in conjunction with Max Payne at their police division. Whereas Max is reckless, Winterson tries to play things more by the book.
Valerie Winterson works with the NYPD. Not much is known about her, except for the fact that she's very uptight and by-the-book. Although she was absent from the first game, she is hinted to have once had romantic feelings for Max. She is a single mother of a blind child.
Appearance and characteristics
Winterson always wears a long, burgundy coat. She appears to be in her mid-thirties to early fourties. She has blonde hair and a emotionless face. She initally seems friendly to her coworkers and boss; it is later revealed that she has a fanatical devotion to Vlad, to the point that she has no qualms toward murdering her said coworkers if it is for Vlad's benefit.
Valerie Winterson is the partner of Max Payne, who pulls him out of tough situations most of the time, but seems to take a personal interest in Max's latest case. She investigates the murder of a U.S. Senator, in which Mona Sax is believed to be involved. Later in the game she is killed by Max in a rather tense moment, and then revealed to be the lover of Vladimir Lem.
