Despite his Italian heritage and work for the Mafia, it's unknown if he is a particular member of any family or he works independently. He is also a violent sadist, as he once observed two men playing a kung fu style fighting game before strangling them both with the cables.
Rico began working as an gigolo but he later became New York's pimping boss and got famous and revered in the criminal underworld and was called in to watch over any high profile deals. He is a very violent pervert and sadomasochist as he states he "banged and stargled" two prostitutes for playing video games instead of licking each other's bodies. He seems lazy as when the [[Valkyr]] deal is being transacted he is in a bar getting fellatio from prostitute [[Candy Dawn]]. Max Payne then barges into the bar and then his goons and Candy attack the cop. Max kills them and then goes after Rico, killing him in the next room.
