Petersburg is an NYPD police officer that oversees the holding cells in the police station.

Petersburg directs Max Payne to Mona Sax's cell when the detective comes to get a statement from the murder suspect. However, a few moments later, the Cleaners assault the station with the intent to find and kill Mona and fatally wound the officer. Briefly calling for help, Petersburg succumbs to his wounds before anyone can reach him. Payne is shocked when he finds his corpse.

In the PC version, Petersburg is white. In the PS2 and Xbox versions, he is black instead.
