- "The M500 riot shotgun packs a monster punch at close range. The sniper rifle and the RPG are the only weapons that match its damage capabilities, neither of which are close-range weapons. It is more damaging but lighter than the M4 Super 90."
- ―Social Club description
The M500 is a shotgun in Max Payne 3.
Overview[]
The Model 500 is a series of shotguns manufactured by O.F. Mossberg & Sons. The 500 series comprises widely varying models of hammerless, pump action repeaters, all of which share the same basic receiver and action. The M500 contains features of the Model 590.
Although it's the first shotgun available in both single and multiplayer, it boasts the highest damage of any ballistic weapon in the game, able to kill enemies with a single body shot at close range, whereas other shotguns tend to require two or more. This is balanced out having terrible statistics in all other fields, even with upgrades.

Trivia[]
- While it is named after the Mossberg 500, it appears to be modeled after a Mossberg Model 590 with features from the Remington 870 folding stock version.
- Its Grinds icons feature a different design; it more closely resembles a Mossberg 500 Cruiser. This is likely due to the shotgun resembling this design in pre-release builds of the game, as seen in trailers.
