- "The G9 is a single-shot, breach-loading weapon. Wielding this mighty two-handed grenade launcher is a unique experience: it's projectile fires much faster and straighter than other weapons, packing a huge punch upon explosion."
- ―Social Club description
The G9 is a grenade launcher in Max Payne 3, exclusive to the multiplayer mode via the Disorderly Conduct DLC pack.
Overview[]
The G9 is a single-shot grenade launcher. Its DPS is on par with Rotary Grenade Launcher, there's a major difference between both launchers, however - unlike its semi-automatic counterpart which fires its projectiles parabolically, the G9 fires in an almost straight line, thus having much greater range and allowing for more precise shots. It is also more difficult to dodge a single blast since its projectiles travel much faster.
A direct hit from a G9 is a guaranteed kill. An instant death can be prevented by sporting bomb suits or triggering the Unstoppable or Big Dog bursts. The health bonus from Fresh Blood can also save a potential victim. If a grenade lands not far from the target (approx. 1 metre), it will trip them over, making the target a sitting duck. The bomb suit is the only way to avoid getting knocked down.
Players can carry up to 6 projectiles at spawn. They are also able to loot more if they run out of them, however, there's a considerably lower chance for this to happen when compared to looting for regular ammunition.
The G9 reloads fairly slowly, on par with RPG. Because of that, the Quick Holster item comes in handy. Reloads can also be slightly faster if player reloads the launcher manually right after firing - automatic reload takes a skippable portion of time.
