- For this weapon as it appears in Max Payne and Max Payne 2, see Desert Eagle.
- "The DE is a gas-operated semi-automatic pistol with .50 caliber rounds that has an effective range of 50 meters. This is the third most powerful handgun in the arsenal and, along with the 608 Bull, it has the best range. The DE’s accuracy is fair and ammo capacity is average."
- ―Social Club description
The DE .50 is a handgun in Max Payne 3.
Overview[]
The Desert Eagle from previous entries returns as the DE .50. It is very powerful, capable of killing an unarmored opponent with just one bullet. Its major downside is that it is very scarce in ammunition, as it does not share an ammo pool with other pistols, and is only available in a few certain chapters.

Trivia[]
- In Sun Tan Oil, Stale Margaritas and Greed, two DE .50s can be found, one is automatically confiscated by Max off the AUP soldier during the zipline ride, and the other is held by another AUP on the second floor of the Visitor Center, making it the only chapter in the game where the DE .50 can be dual-wielded without the use of exploits.
- Max can also dual-wield the gun in Alive If Not Exactly Well via a glitch. To do this you have to play from checkpoint 9 and get the DE .50 from a small room before you go and activate the bridge. Then activate the bridge and reload the checkpoint. Again go to the room and you can see the DE .50. Pick it up or get ammo from it.
Behind the scenes[]
- Although the gun is shown in numerous levels in many pre-release screenshots and trailers for Max Payne 3, it only appears in a few levels of the final game. Presumably for balancing reasons given the extensive damage capabilities it offers the player.
- It also appears in many of the game's promotional artworks featuring Max.
