B.B. Hensley is an old friend of Max in the DEA, and became somewhat of a mentor after Max's family is killed. At first he is a friend of Max, but turns out to be an highly hypocrite man who secretly ordered the death of Max's entire family and who killed Alex Balder. He is in league with Nicole Horne but in the same time he appears to be somehow linked to the Inner Circle.

Background

BeauBridges

Beau Bridges playing B.B. Hensley

B.B. Hensley is a member of the DEA who is supposedly helping Max on the investigation for the murders of his family, but actually is allied with Nicole Horne in the production of an illegal drug called Valkyr and with the underground society Inner Circle in informing them what does Max do all the time. While Horne let Valkyr junkies loose in the house of Max's family, B.B. shot Alex Balder in Roscoe Street Station and framed Max for his death. Hensley is a big-time crook that backstabs everyone beside him and benefacting of both Nicole Horne and Inner Circle, he seeks to take control over them and become New York's organized crime kingpin.

Involvement in Max Payne

In Max Payne, B.B. is featured as a minor villain and boss. He is first heard in Part I, Chapter 1: Roscoe Street Station, telling Max via phone to meet with Alex in the train station. In Chapter 2, he shoots Alex while Max is talking with him, but he is out of Max's view. At this point in the game it is not immediately clear to the player that the shooter is B.B. since he had not been visually introduced yet. In Part III, Chapter 4, B.B. contacts Max in an attempt to lure him in a trap and kill him. During his conversation with Max in their meeting, he says some things that make clear to Max that he is involved in the Inner Circle. Max, however, knows that B.B. is a traitor and venomously nicknames him "Backstabbing Bastard" before killing B.B. and his henchmen in a protracted shootout in a car park. Most believe that Nicole Horne hired B.B. to kill Alex and frame Max because he was getting close to solving the Valkyr Case and the fact that a member of the Inner Circle (totally excluding Alfred Woden) employed him in the organization but which one did this it was never revealed, although all of Inner Circle's members are dead. See Backstabbing Bastard for more details.

Strategy

B.B. is a very tricky boss. He weilds a Jackhammer and Molotov Cocktails with around five soldiers guarding him. A temporary glitch occurs when B.B. disappears, but this glitch is temporary. Using either a Colt Commando or Shotgun on him is wise. Shooting him in the head works best because it will disgruntle him and he will temporarily stall.

Quotes

"Maxey, Maxey, Maxey, you never knew when to quit did you ?." - B.B. at Backstabing Bastard

Trivia

  • B.B. Hensley was played by Beau Bridges in The Max Payne Movie that came out on October 17, 2008.
  • Max can be heard referring to B.B. as "Backstabbing Bastard."
  • B.B Hensley's Inner Circle employer could very possibly be Vinnie Gognitti because he said few things about drug police in his battle with Max Payne.
  • B.B. Hensley is only the name of the character in the Max Payne Movie; the video game Max Payne only ever refers to him as B.B.
  • B.B. used a Desert Eagle to kill Alex at Roscoe Street, but when he fights Max in Chapter III, he uses Molotov Cocktails and a Jackhammer. He has somehow gotten these weapons on his way (most likely from the car that he entered).
