- "The 1911 pistol is a single-action, semi-auto handgun with .45 caliber rounds. This is a comparable weapon to the PT92, although the 1911 sacrifices clip size for a better range."
- ―Social Club description
The 1911 is a handgun in Max Payne 3.
Description[]
The M1911, known in-game as 1911 and nicknamed "Colt .45" or "Colt 1911", is an American semi-automatic handgun. It is one of the most common and popular handguns in the world. This weapon is used by both criminals and lawmen alike.
The 1911 is a basic handgun and deals a moderate amount of damage. It can be dual-wielded like all single handed firearms.
Usage[]
The M1911 is used by the DeMarco Crime Family, as one of their main sidearms during their hunt for Max Payne, along with the M10.
The Brazilian Unidade de Forças Especiais officers also used the M1911 commonly as one of their sidearms, along with the PT92.

Behind the scenes[]
- Unlike a real M1911, the pistol has a double action trigger in game.
- When Rockstar released a promotional Max Payne 3 video clip about the 1911, in the video, it stated that Max Payne used the gun since the early days of his police career. Not long after the debut of the video, fans wrote comments to Rockstar, saying that the developers must have confused the weapon with the Beretta, Max's signature pistol since Max Payne. Rockstar noticed the mistake, issued an update acknowledging it and uploaded a new video replacing the old one, which now did not feature the erroneous info.
- In Chapter XII, Max holds one for the entire opening cutscene, despite the fact that he begins the level with the PT92 instead.
